Ladies, go ahead and play

The jungle holds nothing back, neither do these ladies.
Recently we played host to an awesome group of intrepid ladies and they certainly showed the jungle what they are made of.
All were mommies with families living in KL. It was a female bonding trip planned weeks ahead to escape the shackles of city life.
Armed with “anything [...]

Going wildside in Malaysia

Rugged places, flower patches and a whole lot of leeches. “Now I know why you asked for our weight, height and fitness when we signed up for this trek”, quipped Kasey between huffing and puffing on the gruesome uphill trail.
We recently hosted a lovely couple, Kasey and Michele from New Jersey US, into raw [...]

Rafflesia - A flower that plays dead

Think of Rafflesia as bohemian.
It possesses nothing, yet contrives to exist on that nothing at the expense of its host’s generosity. It has no root, stem, branch or leaf. Botanists are not sure whether to call it a plant or not. Though it shy away from view mostly, it is guided by ambition of “making [...]

Jungle trekking enjoyed shaken and stirred

There is no way to know how crazy jungle travel is until your legs lurch to a stop in a mud hole - and that’s the normal ones, says the guide.

People getting lost in the [...]

Malaysian leech rule #1 - Don’t scream for your guide

Nobody like leeches. While trekkers never loose more than a few drops of blood to leeches every trip, their reputation make first-timers to the jungle cringe like they are dealing with Dracula.
If you walk into a jungle and see lots of them, your guide has made good his promise of untouched wilderness. See, leeches shy [...]

Malaysian rainforest welcomes the Danes

THE DANES are people we’d gladly go on a retreat over and over with, anytime.

After spotting our blog a few months ago followed by a bout of email correspondence, last week, Louise, Lene, Martin and Jonas wiggled their way to Malaysia to enjoy an overnight romp. Coincidently Ken Yeh, founder of the famed Marrayeh Architects, [...]
