Family Charity Drive in the Jungle

Everyone loves doing something different on weekends.

Organized by OO, the normally dull jungle villages of Orang Asli ignited with excitement when four Danish families arrived on a balmy Saturday overflowing with the spirit of charity. Driving all the way from Kuala Lumpur, expatriate family members generously gave away cargoes of toys, food, cooking oil and clothes to Orang Asli families.

As a gesture of appreciation, and thanks to nice and sunny weather, Orang Asli natives escorted everyone, young and old, to hike around the countryside and dip in Sungai Raya river to cool off. Lunch was eaten in Lawan Kuda, a hamlet famous for its ornamental fish farms. In the afternoon, families had another splashing time swimming in an uncharted waterfall.

The highlight of the day came when Orang Asli hunters tutored everyone on how the blowpipe is used for hunting. Dads, moms and grandparents wasted no time showing their spunk and peppered the bull’s eye will hits and misses. And oh yes, some kids had a go at the pipes too. Simply put, the weekend was indeed extraordinary - for the visitors, as well as the locals.

Putting every detail together, the trip was made possible and lead by our friend Erik and Lotte. Thanks everyone for the heartfelt giveaways.
